There are two elements that make up the final grade.
Element 1: Presentation. Students are expected to design a session to introduce the current state of research for their topic, combining presentation and interactive elements.
Element 2: Essay. For the *essay*, the chosen focus will be the same as the focus of the presentation, the title being "Critically evaluate the current state of research on [focus]"Additionally, you will have to complete a short task at the start of the course in which you will write a short reflection on a relevant journal article. Without submitting this task, the other two assessments will not be graded.

a) You have an overview of current topics in Environmental Psychology
b) Within one specific topic in Environmental Psychology, you can explain different ways of operationalizing a research question into a specific research method
c) You can summarize and critically evaluate the current state of research on a topic in Environmental PsychologyDuring this course you will get to know the field of Environmental Psychology. We will talk about different topics in this exciting field of research, such as: environmental literacy, psychological distance, (political) identity, nature and health, and biodiversity. At the start of the course, you will pick a topic within Environmental Psychology. An overview of the different topics will be provided, but students are also welcome to come up with their own topic. Throughout the seminar, you will dive deeper into this topic by (a) writing a short reflection on a relevant journal article, (b) giving an in-depth presentation on the same journal article (plus additional literature), and (c) writing an essay in which you critically evaluate the current state of research on your topic of choice. Given that this is an applied seminar, you will be asked in each assignment to reflect specifically (and critically) on the method(s) that are used to study your topic of choice. Altogether, this seminar prepares you to write a Master thesis in the domain of Environmental Psychology.
