The seminar is planned to take place in a face-to-face format (but hybrid / zoom is possible for individual sessions and depending on university. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday 13th October.

Note: the class will initially meet at the posted time/location for group discussions, lectures, presentations, etc. However, some of the sessions will consist of the students conducting planning or fieldwork in teams.

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The aim of this course is to give you direct experience and skills, , at beginner’s level, in conducting and reporting empirical research, from designing a research question on the basis of existing literature to collecting and analysing data and finally communicating and reporting results.

The seminar will focus on research related to environmental psychology topics such as attitudes about climate change, behaviour in public spaces. In this subdiscipline of psychology, a range of methods are employed in the lab, online and in the field, such as surveys and observations.

Content will include taught elements and group work, reading of key papers, in-class discussion, joint study design, data collection and analysis and presentation of the progress and results of students' work. It may also include field work in the City of Vienna. The course is designed to acquire practical skills and competencies for psychological research activities.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Active participation in class discussions, group work/study design and execution, reporting of results. Specifically, one short presentation will be expected on the progress of the work, and one marked report will form the basis of the grade.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

A pass (genügend) is the minimum requirement for progression. Participation in the meetings is required.
