Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course will teach you how to do psychological research. You’ll learn how to think research questions as a social psychologist and how to run studies, analyze basic data, and report results. We’ll first overview the research method model and then we specifically focus on different research methods and academic writing.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The course will be run as a seminar. Literature may consist of original research papers from academic journals, supplemented with some book chapters. Students will be asked to present in class. Open discussion is important for critical thinking, thus students are encouraged to actively participate in the discussion (asking questions, contributing to the discussion, etc.). I focus mostly on active involvement, and less on the quality.

Prüfungsstoff

At the end of the course, students are able to differentiate different research methods and know when and how to properly choose one of the research methods to test their hypothesis. Besides, students are able to report results of simple analysis and draw conclusion from it.
