Research method is the most important part in psychological research. This course will teach you how to do psychological research. You’ll learn how to think research questions as a social psychologist and how to run studies, analysis basic data, and report results. We’ll first overview the research method models and then we specifically focus on different research methods, statistical programming and academic writing.
We will first address the question about what scientific research is and how to ask formal research questions. We will discuss research ethics and data storage before actually running a study. During different research methods lectures, you will be asked to read paper with relevant methods and present it by group. During the presentation and discussion, you will learn how to evaluate the research (what is interesting or not so interesting, what do you like or not like about it, and why). Finally, you will also work in group to come up with a research idea and collaborate it with your group members. Then you will have a real experience of how psychological research is done. Moreover, you will also learn how to write it up.
