Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Students will learn about the topics and methods of two research groups, the Empirical Visual Aesthetics lab, with empirical and Neuroaesthetics, and the Urban and Environmental Psychology Research group. If possible, practical introduction to state of the art measures, e.g. portable eye-movement measures, brain stimulation, will be given. Moreover, studies in our research fields will also be announced for participation.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Participation in the sessions, max 2 times absent; Minimum for passing the class is grade 4 for the two homeworks (reports, which are each max. 1,000 words, plus references, 12p, single space, and have to be handed in online (see Moodle for details for deadlines) before the 6. and the 12. session). Homeworks will checked for plagiarism.

First homework (Helmut Leder) Deadline before 27.04.2024, 23:55
Based on the model of Pelowski et al. (2017) select a combination of the components described for the outcome of aesthetic experience, briefly present this combination (=Introduction), and propose an empirical study on how to test these combinations derived from the model (What hypothesis is your study based on? What result do you expect?)

Formal guidelines: 1,000 words (min. 950), plus references, 12p, title (your name, matr.number; title of your study, in max two lines, no extra page); single space; wordcount at the end of the paper; submitted online (see Moodle for details for deadlines) before 27.04.2024

Gradings of the homework is based on three criteria:
-Quality of the (introduction of the research question 30%
-Quality of the proposed empirical study (hypotheses, predicted outcomes) (50%)
-Formal correctness (20%)

The final grade is a combination of the two grades for the homeworks (each 35%) plus the grades in the tests.
