Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course provides an overview of structures, processes, institutions, and key players of the Austrian political system and of that of the European Union (EU). Topics are the political system, the constitution, parliament, the party system and government, the Europeanization of Austrian politics, and the development and institutional structure of the European Union. In addition, a particular focus is placed on the following themes: quality of democracy and elections (election campaigns). The (1) Austrian political system, (2) the EU and (3) the Europeanization of (Austrian) politics are being interlinked within a comparative framework of analysis. Methodically, the course is based on a combination of joint analyses, discussions, and presentations by students.
