Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
In Phase 1 key concepts of transition, democratization and governance will be studied both individually and comparatively, in terms of the social science paradigm from which they emerge. In Phase 2 the focus will be on specific socio-political contexts of post-Soviet (former Soviet Union) countries with reference to the most salient processes of societal and political transformation after 1989-1991. Each student will be expected to develop a personal position on the nature of transitions in post-Soviet states and to write a final paper that sets out this position and its supporting rationale.

Introductory understanding of the problems of transition, democratization and governance in the postcommunist states of the former Soviet Union.
