It may sound cynical, but the only stability of the EU-Integration is the instability and the permanent crisis. Obvious are occurrences as the debates on GREXIT and BREXIT; less obvious, sometimes not even publicly known, are detailed issues concerned with the handling of competencies in individual cases as the decision over programs like the fourth programme combatting poverty. When discussing the project of European integration it is frequently forgotten that behind these individual questions a very fundamental issue stands at the beginning: The claimed "peace project" being established on the fondation of war - the situation where the restraint of one country (Germany) had been the root of an unbridled superpower.
The course will provide an overview overs poem institutional issues, but it will mainly provide a space to discuss in depth major turning points in the history of the EU.
