Minimum requirements for a positive assessment:
- Compulsory attendance in the first session
- Regular participation (maximum of two missed sessions)
- Active participation and contributions to discussions
- Development and timely submission of the research concept
- Presentation of the research concept in the seminar on a set date
- Submission of the bachelor's thesis (deadline: February 28, 2025)
*To receive a grade for this course, students need to fulfill all the above-mentioned requirements.The grading is made up of the following:
- Bachelor's thesis (60%)
- Submission of a research concept (20%)
- Presentation of the research concept (10%)
- Feedback on the concept of a colleague and active participation in class (10%)Grade key:

The objectives of this course are to develop a research question and the corresponding research design, as well as to submit a bachelor's thesis. The Bachelor's seminar serves as support and supervision during the work on the Bachelor's thesis. During the Bachelor's seminar, students will develop a research concept and a research question, present them in the seminar and discuss them with their colleagues. The course provides an in-depth understanding of theoretical, technical and methodological skills.The course leader main topics include:• Electoral studies
• Political representation
• Political participation
• EU politics
• Comparative politics
• Environmental politics
• Quantitative methods and text analysisBefore deciding on a BAK14 seminar, please consider the research focus of the respective course leader.Note that students in this seminar are expected to write an empirical thesis.
