Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The key focus will be on political risk management, corporate governance and business strategy from a broad theoretical and applied practical perspective. We aim to deepen students understanding on how best to apply their skills in the modern corporate world and incentivise to challenge and critically review traditional business models. For students of East European Studies this might be of special interest, as most CEE countries have been in a catch-up mode over more than two decades while, at the same time, disruptive technologies have often been applied much earlier than in Western Europe. We combine seminars for theoritical introduction with site visits at corporate headquarters, business associations and new digital entrepreneurs to provide practical insight into the transformed corporate world.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The minimal requirement for positive assessment is a short essay on an agreed topic (8-10 pages) covering one of the key themes outlined at the seminar programme as well as a presentation at one of the seminars to summarise key findings. Regular attendance is required and only two misses are allowed.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Rules of assessment: Every part of the student’s contribution will be assessed on a separate basis. The essay accounts for 70% and the seminar presentation for 30% of the final mark. The essay should be submitted by 30 March 2018 at latest (and only by 30 April if there is a valid reason and agreed with tutor beforehand).
