Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Goal of this seminar is to deepen the student´s understanding of European Integration.Subject matters are the EU´s policies (e.g. social, trade, agricultural, environmental policy) in their workings and development over time.Methods will include, inter alia, reading and discussion of primary sources and secondary literature, and research via the internet.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The student´s work will include, most importantly:
several practical exercises (researching high quality articles and books, assembling lists of references, summaries of articles and relevant public events); to prepare and present, in various stages, a seminar paper regarding one or several EU policies, possibly in working groups.Regular and active participation in the seminar is indispensable.This specialised seminar builds on the basic courses in European integration offered in political science, "Europäische Union und Europäisierung, BA 11 and M5 (a)", which the students need to have passed before entering this class! Sound knowledge of EU institutions and procedures, basic skills in academic writing (citing, etc) and good proficiency in English are required.
