http://politikwissenschaft.univie.ac.at/permoserCourse Description:Immigration and immigrant integration are two of the most pressing issues of our times. Since the entry into force of the Treaty of Amsterdam in 1999, the EU has acquired extended competences in the area immigration policy and the regulation of immigrants’ rights, which have become important areas of EU policy. This course investigates EU policy in the area of immigration and immigrant integration, focusing particularly on the role of different political actors and EU institutions therein, as well as on the policy output itself. During this course, students will engage with both theoretical and empirical literature on EU migration policy, as well as immigration, integration and citizenship more generally.
