The class will provide an overview and exercises of the following topics:

- Manuscript preparation and abstract writing
- Functioning of the peer review process
- Displaying results
- Scientific epistemology and methodological issues

The class includes several hands on parts where students will have the opportunity to practice their skills in the above mentioned areas

The class working language is English.

The class will provide an overview and exercises of the following topics:

- Manuscript preparation and abstract writing
- Characteristics of a strong manuscript
- Functioning of the peer review process
- Displaying and presenting results
- Scientific epistemology and methodological issues

The class includes several hands on parts where students will have the opportunity to practice their skills in the above mentioned areas

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Presentation of a short paper
Oral participation in the class
Student projects

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Students should get a feeling how to prepare a research article / grant proposal / conference paper and abstract which have a realistic chance to "survive" the international peer-review process.

In addition, they should improve their skills as regards presenting and visualizing findings and lern how to reflect on scientific methodology and its respective limitations.

Presentations by the instructor, discussions in the classroom, student projects ("hands on")
