Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The Scientific Skills class aims at providing students with comprehensive information on the research process including topics such as the academic system, the academic publishing process, critical thinking and close reading, and the formal academic standards for a paper/presentation/proposal. Moreover, we will discuss epistemological approaches in the social sciences, as well as basic aspects of research, such as conceptualization, operationalization, and research methods.

Assignments (peer review; literature quizzes; abstract writing; research proposal) and presentations.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Students should get a feeling of how to prepare a research article/grant proposal/conference paper and abstract which have a realistic chance to "survive" the international peer-review process.Grading:
1 (Very good): 87 - 100%
2 (Good): 75 - 86,99%
3 (Satisfying): 63 - 74,99%
4 (Sufficient): 50 - 62,99%
