Summary of the courseThis course introduces the concepts related to fertility and family, as well as the main measures and data sources that allow for their comprehensive demographic study. It combines the study of key theories and empirical observations in order to present fertility and family development along with concomitant challenges across the world. By the end of this course, students will have a clear perception of fertility and family differences across countries in regions at various stages of the demographic transition, and of the prevailing drivers of fertility change over time.
