It is been said that an average 'Bushman' family consists of father, mother, kin and an anthropologist. 'Bushmen' are not only one of the most-researched ethnic groups, but also pose the subject matter of myriad films and audio-visual representations. One may perhaps even speak of an 'obsession' for filmmakers within and beyond anthropological documentaries. The course will give an overview of concrete examples (including self-produced films for television) and aims to assess and critique their economy of interests. It will do that in a discursive mode and therefore seeks the active critical participation of participants.
