Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course will present and discuss personal experiences of producing short films and reports with ethnographic background, particularly within the fields of anthropology of religion, law qand indigenous rights struggles in various African and Asian countries over the past two decades and present the actual approach taken. It aims to make transparent the concrete steps that lead to the realization of an audiovisual project. This refers to the story board, narration, technical aspects of filming, creative comosition and the ethical and legal aspects. A special focus will be on TV productions, but the creation of Youtube videos and blogs will also be discussed.
The course will be divided in two parts: 1. Presentation of realized projects; 2. Practical supervision of student projects

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Active Participation in discussions and either a Seminar-Paper of 12 pages including literature or a narrated short film (5-10 min). Free choice applies.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Physical Presence in classes, active participation 30 %
Paper or film 70 %

Both need to be within ratings 1-4

The lecturer can invite students to a grade-relevant discussion about partial achievements. Partial achievements that are obtained by fraud or plagiarized result in the non-evaluation of the course (entry 'X' in certificate). From winter term 2019/20 the plagiarism software 'Turnitin' will be used for courses with continuous assessment.
