Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course provides an in-depth analysis of the intertwined aspects of gender and development in South Asia, examining how colonial legacies, development discourses, neoliberalism, and intersectional factors shape these dynamics. It re-evaluates the traditional view of women as mere recipients in development processes, emphasizing their agency and different types of engagement. The curriculum also includes other contemporary issues related to gender and development in the region.
This course aims not only to educate but also to empower students to become informed and critical thinkers regarding gender and development issues in South Asia and beyond. Students are encouraged to question, debate, and contribute to the evolving discourses on relevant topics throughout the course.
