This course deals with the multiple forms of how postcolonial theory makes an invaluable contribution to Social Anthropology and its problems. It aims to elucidate the complex and intricate ways how the heritage of colonialism is still incorporated into social relationships of the modern world.

Prüfungsstoff

After a general introduction to postcolonial theory, the course will be divided into groups focusing on a specific topic in a postcolonial perspective. These groups will start from a monograph and develop presentations based on literature. The form of these presentations is open and may include any type of audio-visual material. They should serve as input for further discussion of the debated issue.
At the end of the semester a paper has to be delivered.
