Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

In this class we will examine Latin American ideas on post-development that on the one hand criticize the notion of development and on the other hand propose alternative approaches. conviviality, teconología social, human scale development, buen vivir and Latin American feminism.

Learning Outcomes

Students are able
• to create a knowledge base of (post)development studies literature mainly from a Latin American perspective.
• evaluate the importance of Latin American contributions in the shaping of contemporary critical scholarship on post-development.
• assess the strengths and weaknesses of post-development criticism.

This course will be taught digitally through assignments and
interactive/uploaded lectures/ppt presentations. On-line classes are organized to discuss your essays.

Final essay (2500 words, due 2 weeks after the final class) 40%
