Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This research preparation seminar intends to assist the students of development studies to design and structure a good quality academic research on topic of Gender, Work and Social Transformation. The main objective of the seminar is to introduce the core aspects required to undertake scientific research around one of the longest-running debates within the field of gender and development that relates to the empowering potential of women's paid work and labour market participation. These debates have gained a new resonance in the development literature as a result of the growing feminization of labour markets in recent years in most regions of the world. The course consists of two parts and it is planned for two semesters. Part one is, Research Design Seminar in which students learn about existing debates and theoretical perspective in the area of gender, work and social transformation. The course will provide support and encourage the students to develop good research questions, make appropriate methodological choices and write a sound research proposal and literature review, related to the taught theoretical perspectives and debates. This seminar will consist of a mix of participatory lectures, student presentations and interactive class exercises.
