Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The seminar will deal with two concepts: global art and the art market.
Global art is at present a highly debated notion in order to deal with the diversity of contemporary art in the globalized world. Global art is mainly visualised in art biennials around the world, but it also involves the relationship between the various local and regional art worlds.
While global art and art biennials seem to induce a consistent global art world, the global art market shows a very different image - namely the dominance of six major centres.
The seminar will deal with a transdiscipinary approach, incorporating anthropology, art history and economics of art.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The marking:
a) the production of a paper (10 pages à 400 words/page (50%)
b) the visual presentation (20%)
c) active participation in the discussion (30%)

Steping down from the seminar is affecting the quality of the seminar in terms of topics to be debated - and imply, as requested by the study programme director - a "failed" (5).
