Global art is at present a highly debated notion in order to deal with the diversity of contemporary art in the globalized world. Global art is mainly visualised in art biennials around the world, but it also involves the relationship between the various local and regional art worlds.
While global art and art biennials seem to induce a consistent global art world, the global art market shows a very different image - namely the dominance of six major centres.
The seminar will deal with a transdiscipinary approach, incorporating anthropology, art history and economics of art.
