Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The main aim of the course is to provide students with on opportunity to conduct short-term fieldwork in Siberia. Thus, the main activity of this course will be fieldwork in Siberia, which will take place in May and June 2018. The meetings before departure will be devoted to organizational and preparatory matters. The meetings after returning from Siberia will be dedicated to a compilation and first analysis of data collected in Siberia (we are planning a separate course devoted to the analysis and interpretation of data collected during the Feldpraktikum for winter semester 2018/19).

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

A mandatory seminar paper will count for 50% of the grade. The rest of the grade will be determined by short oral presentations and data collection and analysis assignments, as well as by course participation.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

In order to receive a passing grade, you need at least 60 points. A 'sehr gut' requires at least 90 out of 100 points (a 'gut' at least 80 points, etc.). Attendance is required throughout the semester.
The parts of the course held in Vienna will have seminar character. The Siberia parts will be characterized by supervised data collection and discussion.

Prüfungsstoff

There will be no exams.

Literatur

Literature discussed in "Cultures of Siberia" is the starting point. Additional literature will be provided as needed.
