Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The main goal of the course is to provide an introduction to anthropological research methods and to learn how to use these methods in practice. Furthermore, the course aims to prepare students for the upcoming fieldwork in Northern Fennoscandia. The course will spend sufficient time working on individual student’s research projects and guide them in the usage of suitable, qualitative research methods. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a special focus on ethnographic online research methods is incorporated and will be used during the online-fieldwork seminar.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

A mandatory seminar paper will count for 50% of the grade. The rest of the grade will be determined by participating in online sessions, giving short oral presentations and by uploading smaller home-assignments on time.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

In order to receive a passing grade, you need at least 60 points. A 'sehr gut' requires at least 90 out of 100 points (a 'gut' at least 80 points, etc.).

The lecturer can invite students to a grade-relevant discussion about partial achievements. Partial achievements that are obtained by fraud or plagiarized result in the non-evaluation of the course (entry 'X' in certificate). From winter term 2019/20 the plagiarism software 'Turnitin' will be used for courses with continuous assessment.

Prüfungsstoff

There will be no exams.
