meines Wissens an der Fakultät noch nicht angeboten worden. Die
Vorlesung soll diese Lücke schließen.
Approximationstheorie bildet eine Brücke zwischen der Analysis und der
Numerik. Um die Lösund eines unendlichdimensionalen Systems zu finden,
approximieren wir mittels Polynomen, trigonometrischen Polynomen,
Splinefunktionen, rationalen Funktionen.
Typische Fragestellungen: Wie gut kann eine gegebene periodische
Funktion durch ein trigonometrisches Polynom angenähert werden? Was
ist der Zusammenhang zwischen Approximationsgeschwindigkeit und den
Glattheitseigenschaften der gegebenen Funktion? Wann gibt es eine
optimale Approximation und wie kann sie berechnet werden?Die Vorlesung gibt eine Einführung in die Approximationstheorie. Der
Großteil des Semesters wird die "klassische" Approximationstheorie
behandeln, gegen Ende sollen einige neuere Entwicklungen, wie etwa
nicht-lineare Approximation behandelt werden.
