Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

As you have learned in the first semester, human rights are often categorized within the so-called "generations" of human rights. This course will focus on the material rights of each generation. While this class aims to outline the contents, definition and delimitations of each guarantee, it will also attempt to elaborate on the latest developments in jurisprudence and doctrine.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

1. Case Studies: Saturday, 19th of March 2022, 10:45 - 12:15. Students will need to work on two case studies concerning material rights of the ECHR.
You may use legal documents/a text of the ECHR (needs to be printed) during the exam.

2. Session: "Right to Culture? Cultural Heritage and Human Rights" with Florian Meixner on Saturday, 19th of March 2022, 15:30 - 18:30: Divided into groups of 3 - 4, Students will be tasked to produce a 3 Minute Video Clip on a question assigned in class. This video shall be informative, showcasing an academic approach to the topic, but invites the group to be as creative as possible. The Video is to be uploaded on Moodle by the 27th of May. In addition, each group will need to hand in a short concept paper (3/4 to one page), outlining the video, its contents, and the methodologic approach. The concept paper, to be handed in 2 weeks in advance, shall also encompass the used sources which include at least 2 sources not presented during class. The student groups are invited to discuss the concept paper with the lecturer.
