This course provides students with (almost) "everything you need to know about EU projects." The course starts with an overview of the landscape of EU funding possibilities and their raison d’ etre as a tool for implementing key EU policies and as a key part of an organisation strategy for the project partners. The course then introduces key EU funding programmes. In the second part students will learn essential project management tools and techniques for publicly funded projects in general, including how to develop objectives, work packages, and consortia as well as a budget. Building on these learnings, the students will then be introduced to real life projects in the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. Students will first learn how such projects are evaluated by participating in a mock evaluation and will then create their own proposals.
Objective of the course
Students will have an overview of key EU funding programmes and their relation to policy
Students will have gained knowledge of the main project management tools & techniques and their practical implementation in publicly funded projects
Students will have gained insights into how EU funded projects are evaluated and experience in developing such projects "hands on"
Teaching methods
Blended learning consisting of lectures, workshops, student presentations and E-learning-units.
