Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This seminar is designed to deepen the understanding of the interface between quantum mechanics and gravity from an experimental point of view in the form of student presentations. Experimental results from previously performed experiments will be reviewed both in terms of their interpretation and technical implementation, and future experiments and research directions will be discussed. The goal is for participants to engage in an in-depth discussion of this topic and, as a group, deepen their understanding of the difficulties of the interplay between these two fundamental pillars of physics. Based on the number of participants, each student is expected to give at least one 45 minute presentation that will serve as the basis for the discussion of each class session. In the first unit, after an introductory lecture, the topics will be distributed, whereby the participants' own suggestions are also possible. A further goal of this course is to strengthen the skills of own scientific research and the subsequent presentation of content with own thoughts.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
This seminar will be evaluated based on the quality of one's presentation (both content and technical) and participation in the discussions following other presentations. Aids of any kind are allowed for the preparation of the presentations.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
At least one presentation on a previously assigned topic is required for positive completion of this exam-imminent course (based on total enrollment, possibly two shorter presentations). Attendance is mandatory; if more than two units are missed, a positive evaluation is only possible with a formally valid reason. The assessment is made up of the quality of the student's own presentation (50 percent content, 50 percent presentation technique) and active participation in the discussions accompanying the presentation (20 percent of the total grade).
Prüfungsstoff
Content presented in the seminar, especially that of the participants' own lecture(s).
Literatur
Literature will be assigned to students in the first class session or is to be developed by the students themselves.
