Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Research in acoustics needs a blend of different techniques from various scientific areas like physics, mathematics, phonetics and psychology. In this course, students will work on practical problems within the broad field of acoustics ranging from sound generation to perception.

Potential topics will include generation of sound fields with spherical loudspeaker arrays, coherent state theory, simulations of the human vocal tract and the wave propagation around human morphologies and noise barriers, inverse problems in room acoustics, computational modeling, and the perception of potentially bistable sounds depending on their particular properties. After a short introduction to the basics of acoustics and potential topics, students will select their individual problem, work on it autonomously but under close supervision, and finally document and present their results to their colleagues.

There is the possibility to accept more than 4 students, so if you are on the waiting list please come to the preparatory meeting.
