Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The course gives an introduction to various concepts of modern advanced materials. The scope of the course includes a selection of in-depth topics in solid-state physics: semiconductors, low-dimensional materials, magnetic materials and nanostructures, spintronics hetero-structures and phenomena.During digital teaching, the lecture will adapt the flipped classroom concept. For each lecture, the students are provided with the material (lecture notes, book chapter(s), articles, video, etc.) which they will study together in small groups (BBB session will be setup on the moodle page) with the assistance of the lecturer who is present the whole time. At the end of each session, all students discuss the material together with the lecturer.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The course will be assessed via a written module examination held online in the open-book format (2 hours per exam + time for the upload of the results). The examination will focus on assessing your understanding of the principles and phenomena in advanced materials.
