    Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

We will discuss concepts and recent experiments in quantum metrology. Specifically, we want to discuss whether quantum metrology can improve the sensitivity, accuracy, or precision of electron microscopy.

Students will present selected papers from the recent literature and discuss them. Both experimental and theoretical aspects will be covered.

The seminar is in collaboration with colleagues from TU Wien, the University of Innsbruck, and the JKU Linz. For this reason, the seminar will be online on Zoom.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Students are graded based on their paper presentation, and their contributions to the discussions. In addition, it is mandatory to read the papers that will be discussed during the exercises. Questions related to the paper must be uploaded to Moodle.

    Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Questions must be uploaded at least 80% of the time.
Participation is mandatory at least 80% of the time.

The grade will be based on the presentation (75%) and the contributions to the discussion (25%).

    Prüfungsstoff

The paper presentation should demonstrate that the student:
    - Has read and understood the paper
    - Has looked into the context of the paper
    - Did a critical assessment of the relevance of the paper
    - Put effort into explaining and presenting the paper's contents to his/her peers.

The contributions to the discussions should demonstrate an effort to understand, analyse, and assess the topic.

    Literatur

Papers and Reviews will be provided at the beginning of the class.
