Theoretical introduction:
Basics: Diatomic Molecules: LCAO Procedure and H2, electronic potentials, vibrational properties: harmonic and anharmonic oscillator, rotational states, Born-Oppenheimer Approximation, Franck-Condon Factors, nomenclature,
Perturbations: Spin-Orbit Coupling, Vibronic Coupling, Jahn-Teller effect, pre-dissociation and ionization, non-radiative transitions, Simple and complex polyatomic molecules: Classification, symmetry considerations,
Molecules in external fields : B-fields, E-fields, Laser fields
Numerical approaches for computing molecular properties,
Introduction to the physics of van der Waals clusters and metal clusters
Experimental:
Sources, beam methods and detectors, Methods for cooling molecules
Spectroscopy tools: spectrographs, interferometers, modern spectroscopic methods
Experimental approaches to measuring internal properties of complex molecules.
Coherence experiments in (quantum beats, coherence transfer …) and with (interferometry) large molecules
