Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The oral final examination is scheduled individually at the end of the semester.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
The oral examination will focus on assessing the students' understanding of the physical principles and phenomena behind low dimensional solids and both microscopy and spectroscopy techniques covered during the lecture. We will emphasize on understanding the fundamental concepts rather than looking for derivations of complex formulas.
Prüfungsstoff
The course material in its entirety will be included.

We will analyze the formation of clusters of different nature. The carbon atom will be used as example to understand how allotropes with the same stoichiometry can project into different structures with unique properties. Carbon nanotubes and graphene will be used to deepen into these concepts. The lecture also covers examples of spectroscopic and microscopic methods currently used for research on the physical properties of low-dimensional solids.
