Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course will focus on elements and applications of modern matter wave physics with neutrons, electrons, atoms, clusters and molecules. It comprises both theoretical and experimental aspects, starting from a pedestrian approach of de Broglie optics up to the most recent challenges in supermassive partice interferometry and coherent metrology.

It can be followed by advanced bachelor, but it is rather suggested for master and Phd students. Prerequisites are: the experimental courses E1-E3, as well as the theory courses T1 and T2. The course is a good preparation for parts of the quantum optics lab.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

A 2 hour written exam will conclude the course on June 18th 2013 .

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

... to obtain a broad overview over state-of-the-art goals, concepts, experimental realizations and open challenges in matter wave physics.

... to master the elementary theoretical concepts of matter wave physics

... to define and develop ideas for experimental implementations of advanced matter wave physics.
