Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Goals: The students know the most important substances in water, they are familiar with speciation calculations and are capable to perform them independently, in particular that of carbonate. They know the environmentally most important redox systems and they can create EH-pH charts. They qualitatively and quantitatively understand the mechanisms of sorption and the transport of substances and can perform calculations independently.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The examination of the course is based on four individual evaluations. The contribution of each part to the final grade of the course is given in brackets.1. An oral group or individual presentation (online), dates will be scheduled (see Moodle) (max. 20 points)2. Written exercises (max. 40 points). Exercises will be submitted online. Handing in 80 % of the weekly exercises is mandatory. Assignment I (Tools, Solution and Activity, Thermodynamics and Aquatic Species I) must be submitted (uploaded online) on 22.04.2020 and Assignment II (Aquatic Species II, Aquatic Species III, Redox I and Redox II) must be submitted (uploaded online) on 03.06.2020.3. Presentation of exercises (explanatory video) (max. 10 points)4. Written examination (online) on 25.06.2020 (max. 30 points)For the written exam, only the use of a calculator is permitted.We will check homework and reports for plagiarism electronically with turnitin.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
In order to complete the course positive, a cumulative minimum 51 points must be achieved out of 100 maximum points.
