Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Students will have in-depth knowledge about processes and mechanisms of environmental chemistry and geochemistry that play a central role in environmental systems. Students know methods of analytical chemistry used in environmental chemistry and will get training in the laboratory.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
A maximum number of 150 points can be awarded to students participating in exams, exercises, and a laboratory course.Exams (total of 60 points):
6 short exams (45 minutes) are held during the semester, each of which is worth 10 points. The exam dates are
1. exam: October 17th (Hofmann); 2. exam: October 24th (vd Kammer); 3. exam November 7th (Hüffer); 4. exam November 16th (Krämer); 5. exam November 24th (Krämer); 6. exam December 12th (Stohl).Exercises (total of 50 points):
5 exercises are done during the semester, each of which is worth 10 points. Further details will be announced via Moodle.Laboratory (40 points)
The laboratory course will consist of six basic experiments in environmental chemistry (6 points each), an introductory/safety session (4 points). The laboratory course will be held from December 14th until January 30th. Participation in all parts of the laboratory course is mandatory to successfully finish this course.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
A total of 150 points can be reached by successful participation of the exams, exercises, and the laboratory course. The points from all these activities are accumulated an the grade is applied to the total number of points reached during the semester. The following grading scheme will be applied:
% - Grade
> 87.5 - 1
75-87.49 - 2
62.5-74.99 - 3
50-62.49 - 4
0-49.99 - 5
At least 50 % of the total points (i.e. 75 points) need to be accumulated to pass. However, keep in mind that attending all parts of the laboratory course is mandatory to pass this course.
