Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course will be the three days 4-6 June 2014

The basic content of the course will be:
- Basics of the Lagrangian particle dispersion model FLEXPART and theoretical background
- FLEXPART structure and logics
- Basic description of FLEXPART versions including input data
- Installation, compilation and usual problems
- Flexpart running in forwards and backwards modes, set-up guidelines and understanding the output.
- Typical problems, how to identify and solve them
- Basic processing and visualisation of output

All accompanied by examples, applications and hands-on sessions.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The assessment will be done by evaluating the participation during the class and the performance during the hands-on. In addition a short practical exercise will be given to the participants.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The course aims at the students to be able to understand and use the Lagrangian particle dispersion model from the very basic structure, compilation and execution, set-ups to finally of output processing for a variety of atmospheric transport examples. Strongly focused on hands-on exercises and training.

Prüfungsstoff

The methodology will be consecutive theoretical and hands-on sessions to allow the participants to apply the theoretical aspects just explained. Exercises will be provided as examples and a final discussion session wil allow the participants to discuss additional applications that may not have been presented.
