Procedure:
- Participants have to choose a topic for the bachelor's thesis at the beginning of the semester or before. A list of available topics can be found on Moodle. This will be updated continuously until the beginning of the semester. Other topics are possible and can be defined in personal discussions with professors, postdocs or advanced PhD candidates. The topic is considered accepted as soon as the supervisor has registered the student via Moodle.
- The topic of the first two units is an introduction to writing a bachelor's thesis.
- Subsequently, regular individually arranged meetings with the supervisors are obligatory.
- The aim of the accompanying tutorial is to support the students in the preparation of the written Bachelor thesis and the oral presentation.
- The bachelor thesis will be presented in a short poster presentation in the seminar.
- At least one draft of the written thesis must be submitted to the supervisor before the final submission.
- The final written thesis must be evaluated by the supervisor no later than Sept. 30th, 2024.
- The final presentation will take place in small groups of ~4 candidates each.
Objectives of the course:
- Participants can independently acquire knowledge related to a clearly defined research question.
- Participants can conduct independent analyses of data, literature, etc.
- Participants can describe their own research in a broader context and distinguish it from existing research.
- Participants can interpret their research results in a logically consistent way, compare them to other results and discuss them.
- Participants can formulate necessary steps to achieve further results.
- Participants can present their research work in written form according to current scientific standards, as well as in oral form in the oral presentation of the work.
