Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course will deal with the multifarious implications resettlements and relocations bear for affected populations. The theme of the course is situated in the field of geographies of migration, mainly forced migration.

The first part of the course will be dedicated to discussing the conceptual, theoretical, as well as methodological dimensions related to resettlements and relocations. This will involve different typological approaches to both phenomena as well as the discussion of concepts such as political ecology, sustainable livelihoods and practice theory.

The second part of the course will then look at different case studies concerned with resettlement and relocation processes in different countries of Southeast Asia.
Each session will start with a 30 to 45 minutes introduction lecture followed by different forms of collaborative group work based on the lecture input and the weekly reading assignment.
