Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This year's field trip will take us to England and Scotland, where we plan to visit research groups in major cities including (but not limited to) University of Bristol, University of Glasgow, and so on. Other exciting activities will include visiting the Prime meridian at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, London, and the Scottish Highlands. The travel dates will be in mid-September (within the time window of 14-28.09.25 for about 7 days). We will learn about the UK, how universities and research labs work there and get the chance to listen to presentations about cutting-edge research in spatial data science, spatial cognition, and related fields. Students will have the opportunity to discuss research topics with professors such as Ana Basiri and Rui Zhu (whose paper many of you read in other classes). Trip details will be announced in the mandatory "PS Proseminar zur Fachexursion". We will accept students from various Master's at the Department of Geography and Regional Research. While not a strict pre-requisite, we recommend that students have visited at least an Introduction to Spatial Data Science or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) class at a Master's or bachelor's level in the past. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out or join the first meeting of the Proseminar in March.Accommodation will be in 2 or 4-person bedrooms in major hotels across the visited cities. Transportation will be mainly by plane and train, including local metro or Uber/taxi transport.

Presentation & writing of a topic (60%), active participation (40%). We will write a short paper (or papers) together; details in class. Attendance is mandatory.
