Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Urban Development and Planning in Eastern Europe examines the relationship between planning (the ideal) and development (the real) and how local contexts and contested multiscalar agendas influence both. In this module, students focus on the economic, political, and social challenges of East Central European cities based on the core cases of Bratislava, and Ljubljana. Invited experts contribute to a wider understanding of post-socialist cities such as Budapest, or Prague. The study tours to Bratislava, and Ljubljana (additional course EX Urban Development and Planning in Eastern Europe; available only within the Urban Master 4CITIES) allow students to learn about urban planning & development on-site, with theoretical and practical knowledge further improved under the supervision of local professionals and experts.
