Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Students will get to know the problems, challenges, and possibilities of global change and sustainability and the role of geographers in addressing them. Classes will consist of lectures, group paper presentations, group peer-reviews, and discussions. Potential responses to challenges of global change and sustainability will be explored within self-organized mini-projects by applying specific approaches and working methods (e.g. moderation, process design, project management, and team work) relevant to practical work in this field. The results of the student projects will be presented at the end of the semester.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

This course requires a considerable amount of reading, thinking, and both individual and group work. Successful students will bring to it curiosity, open-mindedness, and critical reflection. AI and other digital tools can be utilized but only in a supportive way; all work is expected to be the student's own.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Each student’s final mark will be determined by the following assessment criteria:

45% Group paper presentations (15% x 3 presentations)
30% Paper presentation peer-reviews (10% x 3 reviews)
20% Final group presentation
05% Attendance and engagement

1 = >90% 2 = 80-89% 3 = 70-79% 4 = 60-69% 5 = <60%
