Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
How do brains process information and generate behavior? Due to conceptual and technological advances, modern neuroscience is making major breakthroughs in understanding the fundamental principles by which biological neural networks operate to perform their functions. The goal of this lecture is to provide insights into modern neural circuit research. Emphasis will be placed on the study of neuronal circuits and behavior in various animal models, current methodological and conceptual approaches, and highlights of historical and recent research discoveries. Students will be provided with a comprehensive overview of the field in order to develop their individual research interests for their Master's and PhD studies.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
We invite students with interest in neurobiology during their Masters and PhD studies from all disciplines, including biology, informatics/computer science, psychology, physics etc. It is expected that students are familiar with basic concepts in neurobiology (e.g., content taught in lectures 300190-1 VO Concepts of Neurobiology (2023W) or 301402-1 VO Basics in Neuroscience I (2023W)).
