Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This is a hands-on course where students will learn to analyze curated NGS data, with a focus on ancient DNA. The methodology is specifically adapted to paleogenomic approaches for human data.

By the end of the course, students will be able to independently:

--> Determine sex and familial relationships from genetic data
--> Assess contamination in NGS datasets
--> Perform Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
--> Apply F-statistics and qpAdm for population genetic analyses
--> Identify Runs of Homozygosity

Students will work under supervision and generate real analytical results. The course takes place entirely in computer labs.

Students will be able to, after the course perform their own analyses

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The examination will be depending on the Student's performance and engagement during the course plus a final practical project tutored by the lecturer.
