Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The course addresses mammalian reproductive biology with emphasis on female sex, and covers developmental and evolutionary aspects of the anatomy and physiology involved. We start with a study of human reproduction, and proceed by tracing single reproductive phenomena, such as ovulation, implantation, or birth, across the mammalian portion of the phylogenetic tree in comparative manner. The goal is to obtain the general understanding of the female aspects of mammalian reproduction, as well as the developmental-evolutionary processes (and principles) leading to its current complexity and diversification across extant species.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Written exam with 12-15 questions (in person, situation allowing). The topics examined are those presented in the lectures. No open book exam.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Answers to single questions should reflect understanding of the reproductive system across mammals.
