series of on-site seminars, written assignments (submitted via course Moodle page) and student presentations.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Attendance of at least 80% of the seminars is required as a prerequisite for completion of the course. Presentation of the Master project (both oral and in a written form). 1 (Sehr Gut): 90-100%; 2 (Gut): 75-89.99%; 3 (Befriedigend): 60-74.99%; 4 (Genügend): 50-59.99%; 5 (Nicht genügend): <50%.
Prüfungsstoff
Timely oral presentation of the scientific aspects of the (tentative or planned) Master project; 50%; timely submission of the written (tentative or planned) Master project proposal (via Moodle); 50%.
Specific criteria:
Is your idea/project is based on a clear knowledge gap?
Is your idea/project formulated as a research goal or working hypothesis?
Do you highlight the conceptual or practical significance of the project?
Is the project sufficiently specific and feasible in terms of what will be done?
Is there a plan B?
Is it clear how your anticipated results will contribute to the research goal?

The course is aimed at Master-level students in the area of basic biomedical research (molecular biology, microbiology, and the like) preparing to start a Master project in the near future or who just started with the project. The course is strongly recommended for the students of MMB, MGE and MMEI programs starting their Master project in the labs outside of Vienna BioCenter campus.
