Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

- Specific characteristics and difficulties associated with spoken texts (based on audio/video material)
- Discussion and development of listening strategies
- Development of strategies/tools to enhance listening comprehension (e.g., notes, diagrams/maps)
- Specific language/grammar topics relevant to written assignments (as necessary)

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Assessment will be based on the following:
- Participation in class and in online activities
- Mid-term test
- Completion of written assignments (semester portfolio)
- Final test

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The objectives of this course are as follows:
- to help students improve their listening comprehension, writing, language and research skills;
- to provide students with an opportunity to reflect on and apply listening comprehension strategies;
- to raise students' awareness of writing processes;
- to help students apply their language knowledge and writing know-how appropriately in practice.

Prüfungsstoff

Students will achieve the course objectives by:
- analyzing and discussing authentic oral texts;
- paraphrasing/summarizing texts;
- producing original written texts of various types;
- rewriting/adapting texts to suit different situations/purposes;
- completing a variety of research tasks/exercises.
