Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Learning objectives: (1) to hone students' writing skills for a wide variety of situations, especially with regard to text conventions; (2) to develop students' ability to produce texts which are appropriate to a given situation and assignmentCourse content: text analysis and production with special attention to various text functions and types, media, target groups, writing process(es), revision, argumentationTeaching/learning methods (didactics): analyzing and assessing a variety of texts (individual/group projects); writing, adapting/rewriting and optimizing texts for various situations, target groups and media; reflecting on and discussing various steps in the text production process
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Participation in class (10%) and in online activities, completion of written assignments (40%), mid-term and final tests (25% each). Students are allowed to use monolingual dictionaries (no electronic devices) during the tests.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Attendance is mandatory; a maximum of two absences will be tolerated.
In order to pass the course, students must attain a passing grade on at least one test.
Grading scale: 100-90%=1, 89-80%=2, 79-70%=3, 69-60%=4, <60%=5

Prüfungsstoff
Both tests will be based on the text types and exercise formats used in class and in the written assignments.
