Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Course objectives: Students are assisted in applying their skills acquired in the courses VO Deskriptive Grammatik Deutsch, VO Translationsrelevante Sprach- und Textkompetenz and UE Funktionale Grammatik und Textstilistik to real-life analog, digital and multimodal communicative situations, with emphasis being placed on written communication. They learn how to improve their receptive and productive skills by expanding their passive and active vocabulary as well as refining their reading comprehension.
Starting point is always a concrete communicative situation (an input text). Students acquire strategies for analyzing assignments and source texts, planning and producing target texts, optimizing/editing them and marketing their product. The ultimate goal are texts aproppriate to the situation, displaying an acceptable degree of accuracy.
Course content: Reading compehension strategies, strategies for producing texts which perform their required function and produce intended effects as well as methods for structuring the texts and employing stylistic effects as required by the text type.
Methods: Analyzing assignments (different or similar/identical text function of the source/input and target texts), analyzing the intended function/effects on the target audience, planning the structure of target texts, establishing the need for and encouraging individual/collaborative research, discussing sample texts using peer review and providing group and individual feedback, producing an optimized text version.

No electronic devices allowed. Paper dictionaries are allowed.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

90 - 100% 1 excellent
80 - 89% 2 very good
70 - 79% 3 good
60 - 69% 4 fair
0 - 59% 5 poor
In order to receive a pass grade, students are required to score over 60% in both tests.
