Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
English texts (various degrees of difficulty) from diverse fields and cultures will be read and analyzed, with a view to specific writing tasks.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Participation in class, homework assignments, mid-term test, final exam.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Understanding English texts in their context, identifying and carrying out further research needed for comprehension, reflection on the text and its context, answering specific questions, paraphrasing, writing essays, summaries and adapted versions of the texts.
Prüfungsstoff
Preliminary discussion in class, preparation of the assignments by students individually or in groups. Discussion of problems and solutions in class, writing assignments to process and consolidate insights from class discussion.
Literatur
Texts will be available digitally. Additional reading to be announced in class if necessary.
